One of these convoys passes through the asteroid belt. Suddenly, there is a mysterious red flash and the transport cruisers are gone... |
At Star Fleet command the disappearance is noted. Assuming the Alliance has returned, Dr Benn is ordered to take X-Bomber and defend the next convoy. The crew launch the ship and rendezvous with the cruisers. |

Meanwhile on Jupiter, the Imperial Alliance are completing work on a new secret base. Captain Orion's claim that X-Bomber is too badly crippled to be a threat is proven wrong when the ships launch from Moon Base is detected. The rest of the alien fleet in the Asteroid Belt is warned of their coming... |
Aboard X-Bomber, Lee begins a trace of the lost ships with the time scan sensor. As they pass Mars, Lamia gazes at the red planet wondering why she was left there as a child... The trace leads the ship to the asteroid belt where the cruisers disappeared. Before they can investigate further they are ambushed by several Imperial Drone Craft. They manage to destroy all the alien ships thanks to a new shield which protects them from the enemy fire. |

Back on Jupiter the defeat is monitored by an angry Makara, but Orion has a new plan - to lure X-Bomber to their secret base and lie in wait for them under the Methane Sea. The Alliance battle cruiser moves position accordingly and waits... On X-Bomber Dr Benn deducts that a large alien task force that size couldn't have come from a distant base - Jupiter seems the likeliest location for an Alliance base so they set course to investigate. |
They locate the base easily but find the defences very strong. Preparing to fight back, they realise it's a trap when Makaras' ship rises from the sea and attacks them from behind. Outgunned on all sides, Dr Benn orders Shiro, Hercules and Lee to attack the base in the 'Dai-X' and leave X-Bomber to him... They launch their three individual fighters - Braincom, Mainbody and Legtrack - and proceed to attack the base; Shiro and Hercules from above and Lee on the ground... |

 |
|
The battle goes badly - the base defences are too well hidden in the rocks and the fighters can't reach them. Meanwhile, X-Bomber is being weakened by the relentless attack from Makara's ship. Then Shiro, Hercules and Lee demonstrate the true power of Dai-X - they link the three fighters together to form a single robot and then proceed to destroy the base by landing on it and physically smashing it up! With no base left a very surprised Makara is forced to quickly retreat... |
Epilogue
"The transport cruisers for the reconstruction of Pluto Alpha Base all arrived safely, but Commander Makara and the Imperial Alliance were not going to give up..."
